He is a former foreign correspondent and was shortlisted for The Guardian's International Development Journalism Award in 2009. His work has appeared in New Internationalist and Ctrl.Alt.Shift as well as on behalf of UNICEF, Oxfam, the Fairtrade Foundation and the World Health Organisation.

He also writes about music and culture for NME, Dazed & Confused, Drowned in Sound, The Quietus, Mojo, Exeunt and others. He contributed an essay to Read Write [Hand]: A Multi-Disciplinary Nick Cave Reader.

He is a graduate of the London School of Economics, where he was Executive Editor of the student newspaper, The Beaver.
